Hi, I'm James and this is my site!

I was born and raised in England, to be precise in York, a small city in the north-east of England. I currently live in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough, Ontario, moving here in 2020, in the middle of the global pandemic! Not the best of times to be having to move but we can't control all circumstances in our lives!

I've spent a few years living in both Japan (in Hakodate/函館市) and in Belgium (in Brussels), both countries I have become quite fond of. Prior to Ontario, I was living in Scotland. I'm also a fan of Germany, having several friends living there, and too much of my free time is spent trying to master the language. It's a slow process!

I'm a fan of nature, but no expert! So I'm enjoying living in a house with a big garden. I'm gonna take the opportunity to try and grow some of my own food. Fingers crossed for a good harvest, and not a barren wasteland of dead plants!

Although, of course, sustainability is a passion of mine, I do have other interests. When I was living in Scotland I volunteered my free time with, amongst others, the National Trust, Jog Scotland, The Gate Church Carbon Saving Trust, and the Scottish Green Party. It could eat into my time a bit, but I often saw it as an extension of my social life rather than a chore! Now I'm in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough I have been volunteering with KWIC (Kawartha World Issues Centre).

When I’m not working on this site, I enjoy going for walks, cycling, cooking and trying to improve my French now that I am in Canada. I’m a fan of Star Trek, Dr Who and board games.
